Schwerpunkt SARS-CoV-2
SARS-CoV-2 und die klinischen Merkmale von COVID-19 verdeutlichen auf dramatische Weise die Notwendigkeit, besser zu verstehen, warum manche Patientinnen und Patienten so auffallend anfälliger für einen viralen Erreger der Atemwege sind. Mehrere an RESIST beteiligte Forschende arbeiten erfolgreich an der Lösung dieser Herausforderung. Sie suchen neue diagnostischen Methoden, verbessern Impfstoffe und klonen breit neutralisierende monoklonale Antikörper.

SARS-CoV-2-Forschungsprojekte und ihre Ansprechpersonen
Mehrere RESIST-Forschungsgruppen haben – über ihre eigentliche Forschung hinaus – COVID19-bezogene Projekte aufgebaut, die sich auf unterschiedliche Ziele konzentrieren. Diese Projekte sind durch vorherige Aufbauarbeit in RESIST möglich geworden und durch sie sind neue Kooperationen innerhalb des RESIST-Netzwerks entstanden.
Die Projekte werden aus unterschiedlichen Quellen finanziert. Dazu gehören das vom Niedersächsischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur (MWK) unterstützte „COVID-19-Forschungsnetzwerk Niedersachsen“ (COFONI), die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), der Sonderforschungsbereich (SFB) 900, das MWK, die VolkswagenStiftung, das TWINCORE, das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF), das Deutsche Zentrum für Infektionsforschung (DZIF) und RESIST.
