A lively get-together and discussion – that characterised the second meeting of the “Women in RESIST” (WiR) network on 13 March in the Brunnenhof restaurant. It resembled “speed dating”: the 16 female scientists who gathered for dinner changed tables and group composition with each course, so that they were always able to exchange ideas with other women on four different topics. These topics included the services offered by the MHH Office for Equal Opportunities, the organisation and content of the next WiR network meetings, more challenging situations in everyday working and family life and careers.

At the end, the scientists briefly presented the results of their discussions. For example, they suggested that the network meeting should continue to be made up of women from different career stages and that female academics could be invited to the next meeting to talk about how they have successfully built a career as a mother. The topics of family LOM, entitlement to a place in one of the company childcare centers, homework help for children and support for mid-career female scientists were also discussed. It was a lively and enjoyable evening of dialogue and networking over good food and drinks.
