Exciting topics, interestingly presented: Every first and third Thursday (except during school holidays), RESIST scientists or top-class researchers from external institutions present their topics at the RESIST seminar series.
Attend these exciting seminars of the Cluster of Excellence RESIST, as a member of RESIST or as a colleague or student.
On 6 June 2024, Prof. Quirin Hammer, Department of Medicine, Huddinge (MedH), Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, will give a lecture – from 5 to 6 p.m. in Lecture Hall Q, Building J6 of the MHH. The title of the lecture is: “NK cell recognition of viruses”.
Quirin Hammer obtained his PhD in Immunology from Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany in 2018. During his doctoral studies, he investigated how natural killer (NK) cells of the innate immune system respond to different variants of cytomegalovirus in the lab of Prof. Chiara Romagnani. After his PhD, Quirin joined the Center of Infectious Medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm – first as a post-doc under the mentorship of Prof. Karl-Johan Malmberg – and is now heading an independent team. Quirin’s team explores the molecular signals that allow NK cells to recognize virus-infected or tumor transformed cells and has a particular interest in the co-evolution of viruses and NK cells.
