We are very pleased with the successful outcome of our international scientific symposium on infection research held at the Futurium in Berlin on 1 and 2 October 2024!<\/p>\n

Under the title \u2018Microbes – Connecting Environment and Health\u2019, RESIST researchers met with researchers from the clusters of excellence \u2018Balance of the Microverse\u2019 (Friedrich Schiller University Jena) and \u2018Controlling Microbes to Fight Infections\u2019 (University of T\u00fcbingen) to share perspectives and present current findings.<\/p>\n

Among the high-profile speakers were Prof. Dr. Dusan Bogunovic from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Prof. Dr. Wolf-Dietrich Hardt from ETH Zurich and Prof. Dr. Maria Vehreschild from the University Hospital Frankfurt. The symposium focused on the following topics: Antimicrobial resistance and new solutions, resilience of microbial communities, susceptibility to infections and microbiome & health. A public discussion event also took place as part of the symposium: Under the title \u2018Infection Research in the Service of Health: A Dialogue between Science, Society & Politics\u2019, Cluster of Excellence experts discussed with representatives from society and politics on 1 October from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
\nThe discussion panel consisted of Prof. Dr. Bodo Grimbacher (RESIST), Prof. Dr. Heike Br\u00f6tz-Oesterhelt (CMFI) and Prof. Dr. Ilse Jacobsen (Microverse) as well as Prof. Dr. Veronika von Messling (BMBF), Volker Stollorz (Science Media Center) and Prof. Dr. Lothar Wieler (Hasso Plattner Institute). Michael Pelzer moderated the evening. The discussion took place in an interactive fishbowl format. This means that the audience was warmly invited to join in the discussion.
