SUMMARY:ACME Seminar lecture by Prof. Søren Paludan
DESCRIPTION:Exciting topics\, interestingly presented: Every first and third Thursday (except during school holidays)\, RESIST scientists or top-class researchers from external institutions present their topics at the RESIST seminar series. \nAttend these exciting seminars of the Cluster of Excellence RESIST and the GRK ACME\, as a member of RESIST or as a colleague or student. \nOn 9 April 2026 at 13:00\, Prof. Søren Paludan\, Center for Immunology of Viral Infections (CiViA)\, a National Research Foundation Center of Excellence of Aarhus University\, Denmark\, will give a talk with the title “Innate immune responses against virus infections”. \nSøren R Paludans PhD work centered on the regulation of gene expression in macrophages during viral infections and was conducted at Aarhus University and The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the US. Following this\, Søren conducted postdoctoral studies as Aarhus University addressing the role of pattern recognition receptors in activating antiviral gene expression during herpes simplex virus infection in different cell types and in vivo models. Since establishing his lab\, Søren has developed a research program that centers on understanding how the innate immune system senses virus infections\, and how it contributes to host defense and disease development. A particular focus of the lab is on viral infections at epithelial surfaces and in the brain. Søren has received several awards for his work and has obtained funding from competitive national and international funding sources. He is currently professor in virology and immunology at Aarhus University\, Lundbeck Foundation professor and director of the Center for Immunology of Viral infections (CiViA)\, funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. \nThe lecture will take place in Lecture Hall Q\, Building J01 of the Hannover Medical School. \nIf you are interested in participating online\, please contact RESIST@mh-hannover.de. \nDo you have any questions or suggestions about the RESIST seminar series? Then please contact us.
